Ecomondo 2023: GREENLIFE4SEAS pioneers of sustainable port solutions!
The GREENLIFE4SEAS European project within the LIFE Programme: an emblematic case of industrial symbiosis in the civil and environmental engineering sector. Within the GREENLIFE4SEAS project, dredged sediments and mussel shells will be reused to build, thanks to the collaboration with SIMEM and VITONE ECO, prototypes of outdoor eco-masses, breakwaters and quay modules. The products will be installed directly in the ports of Bari and Barletta in Puglia, La Spezia in Liguria and Piraeus in Greece.
The geotechnical group DICATECh PoliBa of the Politecnico di Bari, together with the management engineering colleagues of DMM PoliBa, spoke about all this at the Italian conference on industrial symbiosis organised by SUN (Symbiosis Users Network) and ENEA within the framework of #RiminiEcomondo.
Two project posters were also exhibited at the stands of the two project partners, SIMEM and VITONE ECO, who will be responsible, during the course of GREENLIFE4SEAS, for creating mobile plant prototypes for the production of shellfish meal and the planned industrial products, i.e. outdoor eco-masses, breakwaters and dock modules.
